The impressive return to racing continued this weekend as multiple athletes set some impressive PB’s and one of our multi-sport athletes, Rachel Brown, was crowned National Duathlon Champion.
Four athletes made the journey to Leicestershire for the Mallory Park 10k. In near perfect conditions and on a fast course there was a perfect record of personal bests. Marcus England clocked an impressive 31:54 to set a new club vet 35 10k record. Going through 5k in 15:50, Marcus held on to produce his first sub 32 clocking despite tougher conditions in the second half with the field more spread apart.
Mike Hughes was next over the line for the club setting a fantastic new PB of 35:13, backing up some great times in recent virtual time trials. This was then followed by partner Amber Bullingham, who continuing her really strong form took a huge 2 minutes and 45 seconds off her PB to clock 37:35, a new club record. Jonathon Floyd made it a full house of PB’s, clocking 37:43.
In Yorkshire two athletes represented the club at the National Duathlon Championships. Alex Doherty finished an impressive 7th overall and winning his age group. Rachel Brown, who recently clocked an incredible 16:55 at the Podium 5k, dominated the women’s field and took first place by over five minutes.
